WHY IS TENSOR NECK LIFT MORE EFFECTIVE THAN RETINOL, WITH LESS IRRITATION?
All retinoids must be converted in skin to their bioactive form, retinoic acid, to speed cell turnover and support collagen. The fewer conversion steps, the more potent and efficient the retinoid.
Retinol is the most common retinoid. It takes two conversion steps to become retinoic acid. During each conversion step, some retinoid is inevitably lost and Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS) are produced, resulting in less available retinoic acid and more inflammation.
Retinaldehyde (retinal), takes just one conversion step, which makes it the closest non-prescription retinoid to retinoic acid. It works faster and more effectively than retinol because less retinoid is lost in its one conversion step, and less ROS are produced. Tensor Neck Lift is formulated with lipid-encapsulated retinaldehyde. Powered by DiamondCore®, Tensor Neck Lift also neutralizes the ROS that conversion produces. The result is a stronger, gentler retinoid.
WHAT CONCENTRATION OF RETINALDEHYDE IS IN TENSOR NECK LIFT?
Tensor Neck Lift contains 0.05% retinaldehyde, the same concentration tested against prescription tretinoin in published clinical research. In a 44-week study of 125 people, 0.05% retinaldehyde was as effective as 0.05% tretinoin in reducing signs of aging but was tolerated significantly better than tretinoin—producing less irritation and dryness. In Tensor Neck Lift, our retinaldehyde is also lipid encapsulated, keeping it stable and releasing it steadily into skin.
WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN RETINOL, RETINAL, AND RETINOIC ACID? WHAT IS THE ONE IN TENSOR NECK LIFT?
Retinol, retinal (retinaldehyde), and retinoic acid are all retinoids. Retinoic acid is the active form that skin cells use, but it is prescription-only and unstable. Over-the-counter retinoids are precursors that skin must first convert into retinoic acid.
How far is each retinoid from the active form of retinoic acid? Retinyl esters take three conversion steps. Retinol takes two. Retinaldehyde takes just one.
